- Untreated Wood: The wood is untreated, giving you the option to apply your preferred treatment. We offer Metalex timber treatment in clear or green options, as well as paraffin wax for added protection. Our staff can provide guidance on dilution for optimal beehive use.
- Full Depth for Brood: This box is generally used as a brood box, offering ample space for the queen to lay eggs and for the bees to care for larvae. The full depth accommodates a larger frame than a 3/4 depth box, allowing the queen to have more room to expand the hive's population.
- Greater Space for Growth: The full depth box allows the queen to have more room for laying eggs, leading to a larger colony. Some beekeepers prefer a full-depth system for brood raising because it creates more space for honey, though it can be heavier to manage once full.
