Mating Nuc for Langstroth Hives (Insulated, 245mm x 245mm x 240mm)

Our Mating Nuc is designed for maximum efficiency and seamless integration with standard Langstroth hives. It features dimensions of 245mm x 245mm x H 240mm and is crafted to allow for optimal use of hive space and energy.

Key Features:

• Wooden Frames with Beeswax Coated Plastic Foundation: The frames are sized to fit two rows in a special super placed on top of a Langstroth hive. This enables the hive bees to draw out the frames, saving the energy of the nurse bees who would otherwise need to draw the comb.

• Queen Lay Bonus: If the queen moves into the super and lays in the frames, it's a royal bonus, allowing for efficient queen-rearing.

• Capped Brood: You can place capped brood into the mating nuc, which will have newly emerged bees to take care of the virgin queen. Additionally, frames may fill with nectar, pollen, and honey, making the nuc a truly self-sustaining mini hive.

• Insulated Construction: The mating nuc features polystyrene sandwiched between layers of wood on two sides and in the lid. This adds insulation while keeping the interior surfaces clean wood, which bees prefer over polystyrene.

• Overwintering Potential: With proper care, you could potentially overwinter an autumn queen in the wooden mating nuc. Consider blocking the bottom ventilation hole with polystyrene for additional warmth.

• Ceracell Patented Bee-Safe Corner Access Top Feeder: Available separately, this top feeder allows for easy replenishment of food without disturbing the bees, providing more room in the nuc for the colony.
