The advantage of the galvanised metal riveted frame with nickel coated wire excluder/queen excluder is the stiffness of the frame. You won't have any rot, that can occur with any wood product, and they won't send bees flying when you take it off at the end of a busy season.
Invariably the bees will propolis or burr comb the excluder down and a stiff excluder is much easier to pry off without flinging the bees everywhere.
